November is the time between autumn and winter in Northern Vietnam, the rainy season in the Central Coast. November could still be a rainy time in the Central Highlands, Southern Vietnam, or could be about to be the end of the rainy season from the second half of the month.
There may be typhoons or tropical depressions which often disrupt holidays and tours in the Central Coast of Vietnam.
General Weather Patterns in Vietnam in November
In November there are three main monsoons affecting Vietnam: Northeasterly, Southeasterly, Southwesterly.
- The Northeasterly Wind seems to be the prevalent wind in Northern Vietnam and in the Central Coast of Vietnam in November. The wind may blow inland from the sea or blow through the continent only : the former case often causes rain in Northern Vietnam for a couple of days when the wind first hit the region and the latter case just causes nice dry days with mild sunshine or clouds.
There may be the Southeasterly Wind affecting the North in between spells of the Northeasterly Wind.
- The Central Coast of Vietnam may come under impact of the Northeasterly Wind which causes long-lasting and heavy rain. The rain in the Central Coast in November, which may be incessant and heavy, is also due to the presence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone over the region. Several places in the Central Coast may be flooded for several days in the region in November.
- The Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam are to have the Southwesterly Wind for some time in November, usually in the first half. In the later weeks of November, these two regions may be under impact of the Northeasterly Wind which is quite weak when it hits the regions. Without winds or with influence by the Northeasterly Wind, even weak ones, the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam are to enjoy dry days with pleasant temperatures.
- The sea in all over Vietnam and the offshore islands are to come under impact by the Northeasterly Wind in November : dry weather, pleasant temperatures, rough sea.
