An Giang is located to the west of the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam. The province is bordered to the east by the Hau River and Dong Thap Province, to the south by Can Tho, to the south-west by Kien Giang, and to the west by Cambodia (Kandal and Takeo Provinces).

Geography

An Giang is where the two biggest branches of the Mekong River (The Tien River and the Hau River) flow from Cambodia into Vietnam. It is via these river tributaries that travelers can make trips between Cambodia and Vietnam.

The terrain of An Giang includes vast and flat plains between low mountains, mountainous areas, and river basins.

Climate

The climate of An Giang is monsoon tropic climate with 2 seasons: rainy season( May-October, southwesterly winds) and dry season (north-westerly winds). The annual rainfall is about 1,478mm and average temperature is around 27.5oC. The best time to visit An Giang and the Mekong Delta is during the rainy season which offers lovely bucolic photos of flooded fields, wonderful vegetation, and special dishes.

The nature reserve is in Van Giao, Tinh Bien, An Giang, 845ha. Tra Su is 20km from Chau Doc.

3/ The Sam Mountain,Thoai Ngoc Hau Temple and Ba Chua Su Temple

The site is 5km from Chau Doc. From the top of the mountain you can have great views of Vietnam and Cambodia.

4/ Cam Mountain and other of The Seven Mountains (That Son)

5/Bung Binh Thien Lake

The serene lake is in peaceful countryside with lovely natural settings around.

6/Ta Pa Rice Fields at Tri Ton

The area is the stage for lovely photographs of the rice paddies dotted with sugar palm trees.

Getting there and away

There are 2 border crossings between An Giang (Vietnam) and Cambodia: Vinh Xuong (with Kha Orm Sam Nor, Kandal, Cambodia) and Tinh Bien (with Phnom Den in Takeo, Cambodia). The boat trip between Phnom Penh and Chau Doc is 5 hours.

Chau Doc is 245 km from Ho Chi Minh City and 116km from Can Tho and 127km from Vinh Long. It is convenient to travel by road or by waterway between these destinations.
