Binh Dinh is in the south of the Central Region of Vietnam. Binh Dinh is bordered to the north by Quang Ngai, to the east by the East Vietnam Sea, to the south by Phu Yen and to the west by Gia Lai.
Geography of Binh Dinh
The terrain of Binh Dinh is higher to the west and lower to the east. To the west there are high mountains and plateaus; to the east there are plains along the coast which are dissected by low hills. The coastline is rugged with alternating low mountains, sand dunes, lakes and plains.

The buffer zone in the middle of the province in between the western mountains and eastern coast is characterized by low hills and small valleys. The mountainous terrain accounts for 70% of the provincial land. The flat plains are mostly river basins.
A part from the inland, Binh Dinh also has 33 offshore islands. Tourism on these islands have not been much developed yet.
The rivers in Binh Dinh starts from the western mountains and flow to the eastern coast and discharges the waters into the sea. The biggest rivers are Lai Giang, Kon (or Con), Ta Tinh and Ha Thanh.

1/ Quy Nhon City
Quy Nhon is a quiet beach city compared to most other cities in Vietnam. There are Cham ruins, lovely sandy beaches, turquoise blue sea, seaside fishing villages, Fish Market… Seafood in Quy Nhon is fresh and for very reasonable prices.

Quy Nhon City has another part which is a peninsula – Phuong Mai Peninsula which is separated from the mainland part by the Thi Nai Lagoon. The peninsula can be conveniently reached by the Thi Nai Bridge.
There are several interesting spots on the Phuong Mai Peninsula for you to visit: Minh Hai Fishing Village, Eo Gio Beach, Ky Co Beach...
You can visit Quy Nhon in a couple of days, or you can spend a whole week in Quy Nhon easily.
2/ Cham Ruins
Binh Dinh was once the land of the Champa Kingdom and the legacy includes several Cham ruins scattered in the province. Most Cham ruins in Binh Dinh can be day-tripped from Quy Nhon City.
3/ The Islands: Hon Kho Island, Hon Seo, Cu Lao Xanh
Luxury travel services are not available on these islands. They are more suitable for adventure travelers who love to avoid crowds.

By Road
Binh Dinh is connected to other provinces in Vietnam via Route 1A and the rail between the North, the Central Region and the South of Vietnam. Quy Nhon City is the provincial capital. Quy Nhon is 100km north of Tuy Hoa City, 250km north of Nha Trang, 180km south of Quang Ngai, and 300km south of Da Nang.
By Train
There are several daily trains between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City which stop at Quy Nhon Railway Station. Traveling by train to and from Binh Dinh is convenient nowadays.
By Air
Phu Cat Airport is 35km north of Quy Nhon City. There are daily flights between Binh Dinh – Hanoi and Binh Dinh – Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
