Photography Tour Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang) Overview

Hoang Su Phi is still not frequently visited by foreign travelers to Vietnam. The area was quite hidden from the outside world due to bad roads. Nowadays, the roads are fairly good and the stunning rice terraces here started being rumored about among the adventure travelers. Still, if you want to get the full beauty of Hoang Su Phi, you have to be at the right place at the right time. And, Hoang Su Phi remains off the tourist track...

Hoang Su Phi is home to jaw-dropping mountains, valleys, and a profusion of ethnic minorities. Of the over 3,000 hectares of rice terraces in Hoang Su Phi, 760 hectares have been listed as Vietnam's National Heritage. The rice terraces are said to have had a history of some 300 years old. They have been created and maintained by local ethnic groups such as Nung, La Chi, Dao...

On the tour, we will have our accommodation at a hotel of good comfort. The meals are included. While an adventure as it is, the level of difficulty is moderate; we only have to take some short walk and hike to get the great angles for shooting.

Detailed itinerary

Day1 Hanoi – Thong Nguyen of Hoang Su Phi (L/D)

0800 A.M Depart from Hanoi for Hoang Su Phi. We will follow a scenic route which offers stretches of rice fields with farmers at work that we will have some chance to take photos of. Lunch en route.

Later in the afternoon, we will leave National Route 2 for a smaller road to Thong Nguyen. You will notice the road goes up abruptly and the river, mountains, valleys start getting lower. Views of the landscape start getting more and more amazing. We will have chances to shoot mountains and rice terraces in late afternoon when the sun is setting behind the mountains which casts up rays that make the nice scenery more dramatic.

Day2 Full day photography at the rice terraces of Thong Nguyen (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning is for photography in Ban Peo, Ban Nhung & Ban Luoc.
Picnic lunch.
Afternoon is for amazing photos in the areas of Nam Ty & Thong Nguyen.
Overnight at Thong Nguyen.

Day3 Thong Nguyen – Hanoi (B/L)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Road trip back to Hanoi. We trust you had stunning photos of rice terraces of Hoang Su Phi and great cultural encounters with local ethnic people.
