- January is a good time to travel to the far-northern mountains of Vietnam when it is mostly dry and the temperatures are more likely cold in the first half of the month and pleasant in the last 10 days. Those who embark on trekking or hiking tours in the high mountains are to marvel at beautiful clouds which are more readily available throughout the month. Snow may be present in the first 10 days of January.
The Red River Delta is also a good place to travel to in January. Ninh Binh is among the top choices for countryside landscape all the month. Those who embark on luxury cruises on Halong Bay are to have windy weather in the first half of the month; crisp weather in the second half of the month.
- The Mid of the Central Coast of Vietnam is to have light rain in January due to the Northeasterly Wind. There may be dry days in this region with cloudy skies. The temperatures are pleasant mostly.
- January is a great time for bird tours in Vietnam as migratory bird species are present in the country on their winter migration, and bird parks and national parks in Vietnam teem with wildlife. The best beaches to visit in Vietnam in January are those in the South of the Central Coast and those in the South of Vietnam including Cam Ranh Beach (Khanh Hoa Province), Ninh Chu Beach (Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province), Mui Ne Beach (Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province), Ho Tram Beach (Xuyen Moc District, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province), Long Hai Beach (Ba Ria-Vung Tau), Vung Tau (Vung Tau City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province).
For those who plan a trip to the Central Highlands and/or Southern Vietnam, you are to have a wonderful holiday ahead with mostly sunny days and pleasant temperatures. January is among the best times to travel to these two regions.

At the beginning of January 2024, there were successive spells of the cold Northeasterly Wind which caused light rain in Northern Vietnam for almost a day. Then it was mostly cloudy days with winds and slightly cold temperatures in the lowland and cold temperatures in the mountains.
The Central Coast of Vietnam seemed to have entered the dry season with almost no rain, the temperatures were pleasant, too.

10-Jan there was a new spell of the cold Northeasterly Wind which caused rain in Northern Vietnam and part of the North of the Central Coast of Vietnam, part of the Mid of the Central Coast. The other regions in the country enjoyed dry weather with pleasant temperatures mostly. Southern Vietnam got some warm days.
In the last 10 days of January 2024, there were successive spells of the cold Northeasterly Wind which had been the strongest in the winter 2023-2024 and which caused rain in several places in the North and the Central Coast. The temperatures turned very cold (below 10oC) in Northern Vietnam and in the North of the Central Coast. The cold temperatures were unusual given it were about the end of January.
