November is winter in the North of Vietnam, is the rainy season in the Central Coast, the rainy season in the Central Highlands and South of Vietnam.
In November the far-northern mountains may have occasional rains each time a new spell of the cool Northeasterly Monsoon comes which are often alternated by periods with the most beautiful weather: bright sunshine, pleasant or chilly temperatures.
There may also be typhoons or tropical depressions brushing through Vietnam’s sea or inland in the Central Coast and/or the Central Highlands. Typhoons may cause floods in the affected regions.

1/North Vietnam
The North of Vietnam experienced more autumnal weather in November 2019: some isolated rains but mostly exceptionally beautiful weather with bright sunshine, dry air and pleasant or chilly temperatures. There were successive spells of cool Northeasterly Monsoon in the North of Vietnam in November 2019. There is no doubt that November was among the best months to visit Vietnam in 2019.
- The Northeast of Vietnam (Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Ba Be National Park…) had mostly sun, clouds, some isolated rains. The temperatures were 11-28oC.
Dong Van Karst Plateau Dong Van Plateau had sun, clouds, some isolated rains, exceptionally beautiful weather for some days, 9-19oC.
- The eastern Northwest of Vietnam (Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Lao Cai) had mostly sun and clouds, isolated rains on some days and exceptionally wonderful weather for many days. There is no doubt November was among the best time to travel in the region. The temperatures were 15-28oC.
Sapa had sun, clouds, rains, 9-20oC.
Mu Cang Chai had some sun, mostly clouds and some rains, 11-23oC.
Mai Chau had mostly sun, clouds, rains on some days, 15-28oC.
- The extreme North West of Vietnam (Son La, Lai Chau and Dien Bien) had mostly sun, clouds, isolated rains on some days, 13-30oC.
The Moc Chau Plateau Moc Chau Plateau had sun mostly, clouds, some isolated rains, 11-20oC.
- The low lands in northern Vietnam (Halong Bay, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh) had mostly sun, clouds, some isolated rains; 16-28oC in Halong Bay and Hai Phong; 22-32oC for the first three weeks and 16-29oC for the last week in Hanoi and the Red River Delta.
2/The North of the Central Region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh)
The North of the Central Region of Vietnam had mixed weather: sun, clouds and rains in November 2019, 17-28oC.
3/ The Central Coast of Vietnam (Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan).
There was Typhoon No. 6 which hit the South Central Coast of Vietnam in the second week of November 2019 which caused torrential rains in all the region during its influence.
- Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue had little sun, clouds and mostly rains, 17-29oC.
- Da Nang, Hoi An and the provinces to the south of the Hai Van Pass (Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen) had little sun, clouds, rains, 20-31oC.
- Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan: sun mostly and some rains in Nha Trang in the second week; mostly clouds, rains in the first week of November 2019; 22-32oC.
4/ The Central Highlands of Vietnam (Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong)
November is still the rainy time in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Often typhoons would hit the Central Coast which cause torrential rains in the Central Highlands. In November 2019, Typhoon No. 6 came in the second week. There was less rain in the Central Highlands from mid November 2019.
It was mostly clouds and rains in the first half of November 2019, and sun and some isolated rains in the second half. The temperatures were 17-30oC.
Da Lat had had mostly clouds and rains in the first half of the month, some torrential rains during the influence of Typhoon No. 6. There were sun and some rains in the third week and it turned sunny all the last week of November 2019. The temperatures were 13-25oC.
5/The South of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and the Mekong Delta)
November is about to be the end of the rainy season in the South of Vietnam. Depending on each year, the rains may linger more or less. There are still isolated rains in the region. In November 2019, the South enjoyed a lovely November with some sun, mostly clouds and isolated rains or t-storms.
- Vung Tau, Saigon, Mekong Delta had sun, clouds, isolated rains and t-storms, 24-30oC in Vung Tau, 22-34oC in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.
- Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc: sun, clouds, isolated rains and t-storms, 22-34o.
- Con Dao Islands had mostly clouds, t-storms, strong winds from the second week throughout the month, 26-29oC.
- Phu Quoc Island had sun, clouds, some isolated rains, 25-32oC.
