Cao Bang is located 300km from Hanoi in the far-north of Vietnam. It may be due to the remote location and the lack of cost-saving means of transportation from Hanoi that the province receives very few foreign visitors every year.

Our trekking tour in Cao Bang is for the discerning adventure travellers to discover a land of imposing mountains which are home to hill tribes with untouched culture. Besides, the area and the local population played a strategic role in the different wars against foreign invasions; you can recall some of the Vietnamese history at various sites on the journey.
The trip is of hard adventure grade which involves trekking and hiking through forested mountains and limestone mountains for 6 days, 5 nights. The accommodations are rustic with homestay at local ethnic families. The time to do the trip is from September through April. If you look for an authentic adventure experience in Vietnam, trekking in Cao Bang is one of the only few choices left.

Detailed itinerary
Day1 Ha Noi – Cao Bang – Pac Rang Village (Quang Uyen) (300km) (L/D)
Leaving Ha Noi in the morning, we travel on the scenic road into the North-East of Vietnam, known for scenic mountains and hill tribes with traditional lifestyle. Lunch with local cuisine at a family restaurant in Bac Kan Town. Arriving at Cao Bang in the afternoon, we have a brief walking tour of the city before proceeding further to Pac Rang Village, home to the Nung An People. The villagers have been specializing in blacksmithing for generations. Our accommodation is at a Nung Family living in a house on stilts.
Day2 Pac Rang – Ta Lung Trekking – La Village (15km) (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Travel to the border town of Ta Lung where we start our trekking adventure into the wild. The scene today is only evergreen forest, breathtaking valleys and towering limestone mountains. We arrive at La Village in the afternoon.
Overnight with a Tay family.
Day3 La – Na Nieng (19km) (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the family house.
Start our trekking further into the wild to Na Nieng Village of the Tay community. The trek is more challenging, but the scenery is just worth it. We will have lunch on the way. Arriving at the village of Na Nieng, we will have time to stroll around to discover the locals' life. Dinner at the house.
Overnight at Na Nieng.
Day4 Na Nieng – Pac Khoang (Dong Khe) (18km) (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the family house.
Continue with our trekking toward Dong Khe Town. We will have time for lunch in Dong Khe. After lunch we will start hiking uphill to Pac Khoang Village of the Red Zao People. The trek provides us with refreshing view of the surrounding nature.
Overnight in Pac Khoang.
Day5 Pac Khoang – Na Pan (20km) (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the family house.
Continue with the most challenging portion of our adventure with rugged limestone mountains, valleys and crystal-clear streams. We will have lunch en route and arrive at Na Pan Village late in the afternoon.
Overnight at Pan Pan, at a Tay Family.
Day6 Na Pan – That Khe (Trang Dinh) (9km) – Lang Son - Ha Noi (220km) (B/L)
Breakfast at the homestay.
Leaving Na Pan at 0900 A.M, we trek along a river for 9km to That Khe Town where we rejoin our car for the trip back to to Lang Son. Arriving at the city at mid day, we have lunch and have a tour of the city, then 3-hour trip back to Hanoi.
