Can Gio is a district of Ho Chi Minh City which is 60km southeast of the city center. Can Gio is composed of islands formed by tributaries of the Saigon River (Dong Nai River), the Vam Co River and the East Vietnam Sea.
Tour Overview
The surface area of Can Gio includes mangrove forests, brackish water swamps, wetlands, salt marshes, mud flats, sea-grasses… which are habitats for extremely perse species of flora and fauna. Thanks to the important role of the mangrove forest at Can Gio to the environment as well as to the perse ecosystem that the area is listed to the UNESCO Global Biosphere Reserve.
During the war, the mangrove forest at Can Gio was home to a very important guerrilla force of Rung Sac who launched over 1,000 battles in the areas as well as to the vicinity of Saigon.
Our day tour by land from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) to Can Gio brings you to a world of fresh nature teeming with wildlife in stark contrast to the busiest city in Vietnam.

Detailed itinerary
08:00 A.M Paradissa guide and driver pick you up from the hotel and slowly we make our way out of the busy traffic into the verdant countryside with lush green forest. On arrival, we’ll get on a boat navigating our way amid mangrove forest. We’ll observe giant Greater Asiatic Yellow Bats who eat only fruits and whose wingspan is 1m. They hang themselves on tree tops in the Bat Swamp.
Then proceed to the bird conservation area where you can observe several different species of birds. This is available during the nesting season (May-October) only. Have an opportunities to play with macaques (long-tailed monkeys), learn about the salt water crocodiles by visiting their swamp and the hatching area.
Have a boat trip to venture deep in the forest to visit the former Rung Sac Guerrilla Base. Recall the battles they fought and what happened here during the war. Then travel back to the center for lunch.
Free time to walk in the forest then we transfer you back to Saigon. We should arrive in mid afternoon. We trust you had a wonderful day out in the wild with Paradissa.
