Lung Van Valley is located in Van Son Commune, Tan Lac District of Hoa Binh Province. The valley of Lung Van has the altitudes of 700-900m above sea level and has a temperate climate. Lung Van is inhabited mostly by the Muong People and in the past it was referred to as Muong Bi, one of the ancient and the highest of the Muong lands.
Things to do at Lung Van
Lung Van is not a high-profile tourist attraction. There are villages that you can visit for a couple of hours. There are also high mountains around the valley which offer trekking tours for half a day.
Besides, there are several villages at Lung Van with families offering homestay experience. You can stay overnight at Lung Van to get to know more way of life of the local Muong People.
Lung Van is next to Son-Ba-Muoi – the highest villages of those in the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. From Route 6, you keep going through Lung Van and travel for 8km further, then you’ll be in Pu Luong Nature Reserve which is mostly inhabited by Thai communities.
How to get there
Lung Van is 120km from Hanoi and the route of 12-15km from Route 6 to Lung Van offers great views of mountains and valleys. The road is not always in good conditions though.
