Travel Guide to Luxury Cruises on Halong Bay Vietnam

Day1: Hanoi - Tuan Chau Island - Halong Bay Luxury Junk Cruise/Overnight on board amid the Wilderness of Halong Bay

As the junk cruised further, we found ourselves surrounded by heavenly landscape. It was so calm and fresh outside and inside the food was sensational! What a great combination for a perfect experience!

Later in the afternoon, our junk pushed its way through a narrow passage into an area with awe-inspiring mountains. I saw that someone was having a break on a fishing boat that we passed by.

In the front, there were ranges of islands which appeared to block our passage. There was no noise, it was just quiet all around. Then, the captain steered into a large opening area and we knew where we were heading to.

Further in the front, we could see clearly a large opening on an island which was that of the Sung Sot Cave (cave of amazement). It was a bit of efforts to get up there then.

Looking back we were again mesmerized by the landscape of the area that we passed through.

Our junk slowly came to a halt and the anchor was dropped. The boat crew assisted us onto the tender boat and quickly we started to ascend the steps leading up to the cave entrance. As we climbed higher, the view of the surrounding mountains got more and more sublime!

And soon we came into the amazing world of the Surprising Cave. Columns of stalagmites surrounded us and soft drapes of stalactites hanging down over us.

Once everyone was back on board, the junk made a short cruise to Ti Tov Beach where we got off for some time on the beach or for climbing the mountains. There were few folks playing sport on the fine sand beach. I gave it a miss and proceeded to the path leading to the top of the mountain.

As I ascended the path, Halong Bay started getting more and more of a beauty that words fail to do the job. I was just absorbed in the charm and stopped often and looked out into the crowds of islands which were so mysterious to me...

It was quite hazy and the haze seemed to get thicker and thicker as the day drew to a close. It was tranquil and breezy. The temperature was very pleasant. I'd love to have spent more time up here on the top, but it was time to go down for the night now...
