Tieu Son Pagoda was built around the 10th century A.D, located on the mountain of Tieu, 20km north of Hanoi. Tieu Son Pagoda was where King Ly Cong Uan, who later founded Hanoi to be the capital city of Vietnam was brought up and trained to be one of the most visionary kings of Vietnam. The pagoda offers commanding views of the idyllic surrounding countryside.
Travel Guide to the Tieu Son Pagoda, Bac Ninh
Architecture
- The Tieu Son Pagoda is perched on a slope of the Tieu Mountain; the whole complex faces south. In front of the Tieu Son Pagoda is a big lake what remains of once the legendary Tieu Tuong River. On the lake there is a floating pagoda dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy.
- To access the pagoda one has to climb steps of the entrance leading through a gate which is not a Triple Gate found at most pagodas in Vietnam.
