The Do Temple Festival is held at Dinh Bang, Bac Ninh Vietnam on the 14th, 15th and 16th of the third lunar month; the main ceremonies take place on the 15th. The festival commemorates the coronation of King Ly Cong Uan (Ly Thai To). There are two parts of the festival: the spiritual ceremonies and the festival with different folk games and traditional performances.

The spiritual part starts in the afternoon of the 14th of the Third Lunar Month when a procession of some thousand villagers with parasols escorting the 8 Ly Kings (the 8 Thrones) from the Den Do Temple to Ung Tam Pagoda at Chua Dan, Dinh Bang, Tu Son. It was at this pagoda that King Ly Cong Uan was born and the pagoda is where his mother is worshiped. The meaning of the ceremony is that the Kings come and escort the mother to the Den Do Temple for the coronation which takes place on the 15th.

The procession is composed of dragon dancers, men wearing only shorts representing royal bodyguards, people in royal uniform representing mandarins, musicians playing ceremonial music, troops, people holding tributes, old men and ladies, young boys and girls,...

In the morning of the 15th the procession moves back from the Ung Tam Pagoda to the Do Temple where the coronation takes place. There is another procession to escort the Queen Mother back to the pagoda on the 16th or 17th depending on each year.

The festival part includes several traditional performances and folk games: Quan Ho Folk Songs, Trau Van, Chess,….
