Sapa is a cloud-crested township on 1,500m above sea level and inhabited by six ethnic minorities.

The French built Sapa into a hill station at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. It was a popular attraction for the French colonialists to escape from the summer heat in the lowland.

Sapa suffered some damage by the Chinese during the invasion in 1979. When Vietnam opened its border to international tourism, Sapa has been a popular destination.

Visiting Sapa, we all must not miss a trip to the Muong Hoa Valley which stretches from Cat Cat Village to the south of Ta Van Village. The valley runs along a northwest-southeast axis with Sapa Township to the northwest of the valley.

The valley is sandwiched by two mountain ranges. To the south of the valley is the Hoang Lien Mountain Range, the peak of which is also the highest mountain peak of Vietnam, Mount Fansipan at 3,143m above sea level.

To the north of the valley is the Ham Rong Mountain and Hang Da Mountain with the Ham Rong Mountain at Sapa Township. Both the mountain ranges around the Muong Hoa Valley offer challenging yet inspirational trekking hiking tours.

The Muong Hoa Valley is home to the Black Hmong, the Giay and some Red Zao communities. There are several walking trails through the villages in the Muong Hoa Valley that offer lovely discovery adventures.

The Muong Hoa Valley is particularly beautiful when the rice terraces are flooded ready for a new crop of rice, or when the rice ripens yielding golden yellow colors. In the latter time, it is a heavenly valley with dazzling photo opportunities.

Paradissa offers leisurely discovery adventure tours and inspirational hiking tours in and around the Muong Hoa Valley in Sapa.
