1/ Best time to visit
The Co To Island is best visited during the non-typhoon season: December – April. During this time the temperatures are cool (December – February: below 10oC to 18oC) or pleasant (March-April (18-27oC). There are several sunny days in April. There may be a few foggy days but it not very normal to have multiple-day rain.

It is mostly warm and sunny in May. And the sun at the beginning of the summer is quite intolerable after lovely spring temperatures in northern Vietnam.

It is warm and there may be typhoons which result in boats stop making trips. Visitors on the islands are stranded and those who plan to travel to the island have to cancel the trip.

1/ The Beaches
There are a few lovely beaches on the Co To Island: Hong Van, Bac Van, Van Chay… All the beaches have find sand and the beach gradients are mostly flat.
2/ The lighthouse
The lighthouse on the Co To Island offers great views of the whole island and the sea.
3/ Dragon Paw Rock Beach
It is a cluster of rocks and boulders to the north of Co To which offer some nice photo opportunities. The site is also wonderful for an isolated footpath which goes through small patches of rice fields.
4/ Boat trips
There are several islands around the Co To Island for you to explore by boat: Small Co To Island, Thanh Lan, Rat Islet, Lion Islet… several of which have wonderful deserted beaches. The boat trips may take half a day or a full day.
Where to stay
There are several mini hotels and homestay on the Co Co Islands. The prices depend very much on the season and number of visitors at a time. In high season, there are not enough accommodations then you may have to pay 5* prices for a rudimentary homestay without private facilities.

There are several street restaurants on the Co To Island for you to choose from. The prices depend on the tourist seasons. It is always good to know how much you are going to pay for a meal and it is important you agree on a price with the restaurant owners before ordering anything, as prices may not be available on the menus.

How to get there
The Co To Island is 80km east of Cam Pha City and the only means of transportation is by boat, either speed boat or slow boat. A speed boat trip takes 1 hour thirty minutes, and a slow boat trip may take 3-4 hours.

How to get around
Co To Island can be explored on foot in half a day. For those who have no fancy for walking then you can go by electric buggy, or hire electric bikes, scooters, bicycles.
